Report to the PVUSD School Board on 8/19/25
● Excitement and nervousness is felt when speaking about the reconfiguration for 2026
● We have a page on our website built to inform the community about our grade reconfiguration.
● In August (after we hire the new RB principal) we will discuss best fits for our three sites and then be able to announce the principals of those sites for 2026-2027
● The surveys for certificated and classified are ready to be sent to the staff in September. We will also be sending a survey to TPHS and PVHS in September to see if any staff are interested in moving to the middle school for 2026-2027
● We started to discuss a plan to switch books (text books and general check out books) amongst the sites and how we can help facilitate that process and work with the library technicians to get the work done. Many more conversations to come.
● Using tentative numbers (rolling up this years’ students) we review the sites and were able to tentatively say that the sites will use the following rooms with general education, special education, and electives: ○ FJA will use 33/33 rooms/portables ○ RB will use 25/33 ○ MW will use 28/31
● I am working on various middle school schedules that allow for the variables in credentials. Any schedule I present will also need to have the input of the new Middle School principal.
○ Students will have access to Band and Art
○ Students will have access to ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies
○ We are building in ASB
○ We are discussing what Athletics could look like afterschool
■ Ryan shared FuelUp and NFL Flag - both are being reviewed
○ We will have the opportunity to have ELOP after school at the middle school and could utilize that program to offer additional athletics and activities.
■ This would be talked about after the new year when we know which teachers will be at the Middle School.
■ Athletics and activities will need to be supported by staff, so we need their input.
● Facilities
○ When reviewing the facilities all the bathrooms will accommodate the various age spans
○ MW will need some of the white boards adjusted higher for the older students.
○ We have black science tables from the middle school in each elementary school right now. We will make sure to move them to MW science rooms for 2026-2027. The newly adopted Science Dimension curriculum we just implemented this school year does NOT require gas hook ups. It can be used in any district classroom.
○ We know that many furniture items (desk, tables and chairs) will need to be switched from school to school. We will be working with principals and maintenance on creating a standard for each classroom to alleviate excessive moving of standard items.
● Transportation: discussions are happening around transportation and information will be shared next month in regards to how this might look.
● We will be focusing on the reconfiguration during our All Admin meetings throughout the school year.
