Palo Verde Unified School District used a three tiered process in creating the LCAP. The Executive Committee, comprised of district administration, defined the core and supplemental programs. The Implementers Committees reviewed the Executive Committee’s work and provided input and further developed the LCAP through site meetings, looking at the developing LCAP from the site viewpoint. The Advisory Groups further fine-tuned the LCAP using the filters of student achievement as well as each member’s personal belief system. Along the way, PVUSD surveyed parents, students, and community members to determine areas of focus as identified by the various groups. A total of 337 responses were received through these surveys, which were available online as well as on paper, in English and in Spanish. PVUSD also held two community forums to hear from the parents and community. The first community forum was held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, and three parents / community members attended. The second community forum was held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, and another three parents / community members attended. At both of these community forums the Director of curriculum and Instruction presented information on the LCAP process and participants were interviewed as to what their priorities and suggestions for the district were.
