Grade Span Reconfiguration
We are committed to a thoughtful, well-planned process that is grounded in community, family and staff input and is aligned with student achievement. 

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025 our Governing Board decided to give direction to the administration to reconfigure the grade levels at each elementary school.  Our research and conversations have identified areas of benefit and some challenges we would need to address moving forward.  This webpage is meant to keep all informed as we work through the process.

In the Fall of 2026 our schools opened up with these grade spans:
Felix J Appleby Elementary TK - 2nd grade
Ruth Brown Elementary 3rd - 5th grade
Margaret White Middle School 6th - 8th grade
Palo Verde High School 9th - 12th grade
Twin Palms Continuation High School 10th - 12th grade
 
The movement of materials happened over the summer.  Teachers are now able to work in grade level teams in one building instead of three teams across the district.  Schools are able to have rules, expectations, support, assemblies, activities, and leadership geared to their specific grade spans.  PVUSD worked with the Leadership and Unions to ensure support throughout the transition.  Principals are holding activities at least monthly to bring the staff together and build a new culture.  PLCs are using data to make changes in their instruction to improve student achievement.
