When is Picture Day?

Dear Families,

We are excited to have Lifetouch Photography take portraits of your child on Thursday, March 7th.

Your child’s portrait is something that both of you will cherish for years to come so we encourage you to dress your child appropriately and remind them to bring their best expression.

If you would like to learn more about the portrait program that Lifetouch is offering, please visit www.schoolportraits.lifetouch.com/students.

We plan to make the Picture Day experience as enjoyable for your child as possible and we look forward to a great Picture Day.

PVUSD Student of the Month

december-studentofthemonth

Ruth Brown School is pleased to announce that Kaitlyn Heywood is District Student of the Month for December 2012.  Kaitlyn is a fifth grade student at Ruth Brown Elementary School and was nominated by her fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Romero, with full support from her fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Miller.  Kaitlyn is the daughter of Nathan and Nicole Heywood of Blythe.  Kaitlyn has one older brother, Joshua, who attends the middle school, a younger brother, Tyler, at Ruth Brown, and a younger sister, Ava, who attends the transitional kindergarten class at Margaret White.

In her spare time, Kaitlyn plays the piano, is on the swim team, and likes to travel with her family.  They backpacked 22 miles though Havasupai, Arizona, in October, on a three day trip, and they are going to Hawaii over winter break.

Kaitlyn has outstanding grades and has scored advanced on the CST for Language Arts and math, achieving perfect scores on six of the eleven content areas.  Kaitlyn is the historian for Ruth Brown’s National Elementary Honor Society. She was a winner at the Ruth Brown Science Fair last year and got second place at the district science fair.  Kaitlyn won a recent art competition at the Joe Wine Recreation Center; the prize was a blue bike!  Kaitlyn has excellent behavior in class and on the playground.

For these reasons and more, Ruth Brown School is proud to present Kaitlyn Heywood as the elementary district Student of the Month for December 2012.

New Drop-Off Locations

Welcome to the 2012-13 school year.  We would like you to be aware of a few changes made to the traffic plan in the area.

The School bus drop off is now located on West Barnard between North Fifth and North Seventh Street.  Children will no longer be allowed to be dropped off or picked up on Barnard Street.  The new drop off and pick-up locations will be in front of the school on North Seventh Street and also on North Fifth Street. Parents picking up children in front of the school will notify staff who will get the waiting children from the cafeteria.  Children walking or riding their bicycles to school may continue to use the gates on Barnard Street or on Fifth Street.

Remember that tomorrow is Wednesday, and the students will be released early.

Let’s work together to make 2012-13 the Year of the Bear!
