Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year

Yellow Jacket Parents and Students,

Welcome to another school year!  I hope that the summer break has provided time to make memories with family and friends and everyone is ready for another fabulous school year.  The office staff and maintenance department have been working hard to prepare Palo Verde High School for the return on students on 8/16/17.  Most of this preparation has been deep cleaning and organizing files but there has also been a few physical changes. The Yellow Jacket family will be welcoming some new staff members to better help us reach our mission of preparing ALL students to be college and/or career ready by graduation.  We have added an additional Vice Principal, a new media teacher, a new counselor and an additional person to our office support staff.

Vice Principals Mr. Burton and Mr. Chamberlain will be dividing student discipline and supervision responsibilities to ensure timely and consistent discipline and mentoring.  Ms. Santero has moved to a new position in PVUSD and will be replaced by PVHS alumni Mrs. Elearie Johnson to work with Mrs. Bayles in the counseling department.  Mr. Arduser will be taking over the PVHS media production classes and will be bringing some new and exciting ideas to the classroom for our students.  Additional changes include moving the career center into the office to increase student access, an email to clear attendance has been created to better help parents.  Parents can email notes to pvhs.attendance@pvusd.us.

Technology across campus has increased and Chromebook carts are now in all core classrooms. With this increase, students will have no need for phones and earbuds to be out during class time.  Students are free to use their personal devices at snack break and lunch but phones and earbuds should not be seen or heard at any other time.  Not only will this decrease distractions in the classroom, it will help increase the conversational skills needed for success in the workforce.  We are asking that you have a conversation with your student about the importance of following school rules and showing Jacket Pride in all aspects of their life so we can focus on teaching and helping students realize their life goals.

On behalf of the faculty and staff of PVHS we are look forward to working with you for the 2017-18 school year.

See you soon!
