April Secondary Student of the Month

Palo Verde High School Principal Brandy Cox presented Emily Doyle to the Palo Verde Unified School District Board of Trustees as the school district’s April Student of the Month.

“I first came to know Emily as a 9th grade student in my AVID class where she set her sights on earning a college degree,” said Cox. “This is a goal she never wavered from and began to prepare herself academically as well as psychologically.”

Doyle scored a perfect 450 on both her English and Math California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE). During her time as a Yellow Jacket, Doyle took Advanced Placement physics, biology, and English Language and Literature classes. She has participated in the PVHS Band Color Guard, Drama Club (president), National Honor Society (president) as well as various community activities while maintaining an overall GPA of 4.12.

“This truly amazing young woman is the epitome of a Palo Verde Yellow Jacket,” said Cox. “She has taken advantage of every opportunity to grow and learn and give back to society.”

The 17-year-old PVHS senior is the daughter of Sherrie Doyle.

“Being raised by a single parent, Emily understands how to approach challenges and not be discouraged by them,” said Cox. “I have no doubt that she will continue that same success when faced with the challenges at University of California Berkley where she has submitted her intent to enroll.”

“It is not often you find a young woman as genuine and well-rounded as Emily,” said Cox. “As an educator and PVHS alumnus I could not be more proud of Emily and think of a student more deserving of being recognized as the district secondary student of the month.”
